FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION

Re: Recall of HPD-05 Portable Hydraulic
Pump
All of us at Nitto Kohki U.S.A., Inc. ("Nitto
Kohki") and the entire Nitto Kohki organization are committed
to the safe use and operation of our products.
Name of Product: Consistent
with the foregoing, Nitto Kohki is voluntarily recalling approximately
769 units of its HPD-05 Portable Hydraulic Pump (Double-Acting
Hydraulic Pump used with HS Series Punches) (the "HPD-05
Pump").
Issue: HPD-05 Pumps
incorporating a certain PC Board can cause the HPD-05 Pump
and associated punch to activate unintentionally posing a
risk of serious bodily injury to the user or bystander and/or
to personal property. The automatic and unintentional activation
of the punch can be caused by the following chain of events:
if the "Auto-Return/Inching" switch on the HPD-05
Pump is set to the "Auto Return" position and the
main power source switch on the HPD-05 Pump is turned off
for between approximately 5 to 11 seconds and then the power
source switch on the HPD-05 Pump is turned on again. Under
these conditions, and possibly others, the HPD-05 Pump and
punch unit will automatically activate without any activation
of the switch on the punch unit. The HPD-05 Pump and punch
unit will not be automatically activated if the main power
source on the HPD-05 Pump is turned off for approximately
less than 5 seconds or approximately more than 11 seconds
and then the power source switch on the HPD-05 Pump is turned
on again.
Incidents/Injuries:
Only one incident of automatic activation has been reported
to Nitto Kohki. Nitto Kohki has not received any reports of
injuries or damage associated with any incident. This notice
is being issued and the recall is being conducted in order
to prevent the possibility of injuries.
Description: The recalled
HPD-05 Pumps, which were manufactured in Japan, have model
numbers HPD-05, which can be found on the face plate attached
to the slanted part of the HPD-05 Pump’s blue cover.
Sold At: All HPD-05 Pumps that were sold nationwide
are subject to the recall.
Remedy: You should
immediately stop using the HPD-05 Pumps and contact Nitto
Kohki at (800)323-8828 between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET
Monday through Friday to schedule a free PC Board retrofit.
